For this episode of The Filmcraziest Show, I was joined by writer and director Nora Unkel, as well as actress Alix Wilton Regan, who stars in A Nightmare Wakes as Mary Shelley.
The film is an adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein as told through Mary Shelley’s life as she creates her masterpiece. The film also stars Giullian Yao Gioiello, Claire Glassford, Phillippe Bowgen, Lee Garrett and Shannon Spangler; and started streaming on Shudder on February 5, 2021, in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia and New Zealand. My review of the film can be found here.
On the episode, we discuss the symbolism in the film, the writing process and depicting Mary Shelley’s psychological state, conduits, how Alix Wilton Regan prepped to play the character, the production design, spit takes and method acting, and more in between.
