For this episode of The Filmcraziest Show, I interviewed writer/director Mickey Reece for his film Climate of the Hunter. In the film, two sisters, Elizabeth (Mary Buss) and Alma (Ginger Gilmartin), vie for the affections of a man, Wesley (Ben Hall), who may or may not be a vampire. The film’s directed by Mickey Reece and is co-written by Reece and John Selvidge. The film was released on January 12, 2021 and is available to watch on demand.
On the episode, we discuss the writing process; getting used to larger crews; the production design (by Kaitlyn Shelby) and vampire night clubs; the parallels to Dracula; the visual aesthetic and settings in the film; Mickey’s roots as a filmmaker and growing as an indie filmmaker; as well as the film’s festival circuit, and more.
