This is the End could be this summer’s Ted, but I think Man of Steel is standing in its way of being a huge movie. The premise is great and it’s bound to be one of the year’s best ensembles, starring many of comedy’s biggest names (Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, James Franco, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Jay Baruchel) all playing “heightened” versions of themselves. How awesome does that sound? Sounds way better than just Adam Sandler and his buddies making a crappy movie. We get to see real buddies making a great movie! Ted opened to $54.41 million last June. The Hangover grossed $44.9 million in its opening. I think this will do well because moviegoers are seriously hungry for a good comedy; Peeples or The Hangover Part III certainly didn’t cut it, and I’m not sure if The Internship was a good comedy or not. My prediction for the five-day frame (Wed-Sun) is $45 million.
Man of Steel should be a huge movie, as movies similar to this open to an average $57.35 million. It has a great cast, so that should work in its favour. Superman fans deserve a good Superman movie, but the reviews for this have ranged from mixed to positive. That isn’t so great, and it’s already slipped into the rotten range on Rotten Tomatoes, as it stands at 58%. Many people are excited for it (including myself), so I still expect it to have a good weekend. Director Zack Snyder has an average opening of $37.59 million. He’s dabbled in the superhero sub-genre, so he does some stellar experience. I think the director-writer-producer team of Snyder, David S. Goyer and Christopher Nolan, respectively, will bring us a very fun movie. Michael Shannon also looks great as the villain. I think this will gross at least (or close to) $100 million, so I’ll predict it at $104 million.
1. Man of Steel: $104, 000, 000
2. This is the End: $45, 000, 000 (Wed-Sun)
3. Now You See Me: $11, 000, 000
4. Fast & Furious 6: $10, 740, 000
5. The Purge: $10, 685, 000
6. Epic: $8, 120, 000
7. Star Trek Into Darkness: $7, 575, 000
8. After Earth: $4, 250, 000
9. Iron Man 3: $3, 540, 000
10. Before Midnight: $3, 238, 000
Why 104? oddly specific on the 4 haha 😀
We’ll see Daniel, we’ll see 😀
Hahaha I dunno, I didn’t feel like putting anything different 😀
Man of Steel was as good as a Superman movie will get. I’m not saying it’s the best movie in the world I’m just saying that’s just as good as it will get. Superman is just way too powerful a superhero to the point where all his movies will be way over the top.
Maybe the sequel where he teams up with Batman will be better? At least I’m hoping!
Ha! I actually wrote a post about that. Stop by and check it out. I’m mixed about it because I feel that it changes Batman as we know him. Batman in a sic-fi movie? It just doesn’t work for me. In the comics and cartoons it works. I just don’t think it will translate well in the movies.

I’ll give it a read 😀
