Release Date: May 26, 2011. Director: Todd Phillips. Stars: Zach Galifianakis, Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms. Runtime: 102 min.
The Hangover Part II is a meaner, literal clone of the first. However, it isn’t as funny, nor is it as refreshing. The characters in the film comment on how this is all happening again, but not in a hilarious way like John McLane in Die Hard 2, but more in an annoying fashion that makes the audience member think: “Hey… I really have seen this shit all before.” The movie does produce more than a few laughs, but that’s all it has going for it. There is some enjoyable content, but nothing particularly original – and since it’s a retread of the first, it’s very predictable. Worst of all, however, it is a practical basis for new sequels that will do the same thing as the first, most notably 2012’s Taken 2.
Score: 50/100
Good review Dan. Looking back at it now, at least it wasn’t as bad as the third. But even that’s not saying much.
Thanks, Dan! Lol, exactly 😦
