I got published!

Hey everyone, guess what? I got my first publication in a local newspaper (the Orleans Star) last weekend! I forgot to tell you are, so it’s better late than never. The review that got published is my review of The Perks of Being a Wallflower. It’s practically the same as my original review (if you missed it, click here), but she did change around a few things. But her edits made some of it a little better. This is the actual article. The editor also said that I may submit a review every two weeks, so this is going to be great experience.

Three months of Daniel’s Film Reviews

The title says it all, my blog has been around for three months now. I’ve gotten a solid following so far, and I thank you all for sticking around with me so far. You may have only discovered my blog today, or you may have been there since the beginning, but I thank you all the same. I’ll be sticking around for a while. It’s just awesome that some people want to read what I have to say, and then actually come back for more… I am truly grateful. I’ll throw some blog statistics, now.

Blog posts per day average: This is my 146th post, and my blog has been functioning for 92 days. That’s an average of 1.59 posts a day. Also, there has been 93 reviews, so that’s an average of 1.01 reviews per day.

Blog views: 5,123 hits. THANK YOU.

Readers, readers, come round. My blog’s turning three months old on  Wednesday, and I really want to hit 5000 hits before then… I have 225 hits until then, so could you guys help me out a little? Share if you like a post, whatever! I’ll make an official ‘Help me out’ page later, but this is all I feel like writing for now… Thanks, everyone!

Weekend Schedule

Friday, November 9, 2012 – Seeking a Friend for the End of the World

Saturday, November 10, 2012 – Either Dark Shadows, or Skyfall (but only if I see it tomorrow)

Sunday, November 11, 2012 – Snow White and the Huntsman

What the weekend of reviews look like.

Hey readers, I’m sorry for the delay on the Taken 2 review. I just haven’t found the time to write it all yet. I’ll write it when I get back from Wreck-It Ralph. Actually, would you all prefer if I put my Ralph review up tonight and then Taken 2 tomorrow? That’s only if I manage my time well, though.

Saturday review: Wreck-It Ralph

Sunday review: Flight

Monday review: Whatever I see Saturday night. Maybe Silent Hill 2.

Tuesday review: The Man with the Iron Fists.

I love being so recent. Well, that’s all folks!

I finally got a logo!

Hey guys, you may have noticed my new header. I finally got myself a logo! Here it is:

It’s pretty freaking awesome, isn’t it? Way better than anything I could do. That being said, I didn’t make it! My new blogging friend Nick was ever so generous and selfless to make this for me! I don’t have photoshop so I wouldn’t have been able to make anything like this.

I’d really appreciate it if you’d visit his blog http://www.cinekatz.com/, it’s really quality. And while you’re at it, be a pal and follow his Twitter by clicking here, it’ll direct you to his Twitter page. I’d still be stuck with that non-movie related header still if it wasn’t for him. So, one more time, check out his blog! And thanks again, Nick!

Editor’s Note

I know I said that you guys would get the premiere of my Box Office Predictions feature, but I got my days mixed up and it won’t get posted by the scheduled time of 12:16 EST. Expect it by like 4 or 5 PM at the latest. I’m sorry for the inconvience for those of you who were expecting it at that time!

New Features

I think it’s time I got a few features on my blog.

1) Box Office Predictions: Websites like Boxofficemojo.com have estimated box office forecasts of the upcoming weekend, but I certainly won’t be as accurate as them. I’m just going to guesstimate, often based on box office scores of films like the one being released, or other projects of the cast and director or something. Sometimes I’ll be way off, sometimes I’ll be close, and sometimes I may be nearly spot on (I guess it’ll depend on how strong my shine is that day, I guess…*). You can expect my article of my estimations to be posted on Wednesday at 12:16 P.M. EST. And then on Sunday (at 12:16 P.M. EST) with the Box Office results of the new releases, and how far or how close I was to the actual results.

*The Shining reference, so like psychic abilities (in case someone didn’t catch the reference).

2) Celebrity Birthdays: I used to do celebrity birthdays on my blog, so I think it’s time I brought that back, but in a different way. I’ll post this feature on Saturday at 12:16 P.M. EST. I’ll recap the week (so Monday to Sunday) of whose birthdays it was in the celebrity world, all in one easy post. But I’ll do my favourite actors or those actors who aren’t necessarily my favourite, but I enjoy their work. I’ll highlight their finest films and the ones they’re known for, and I’ll rank the films of theirs I’ve seen from my favourite to least favourite. I’ll also want to know what your favourite film of theirs is, to make this feature more interactive. I’ll post this feature on Saturday at 12:16 P.M. EST.
