At this year’s past Fantasia Film Festival, I had the chance to speak with the minds behind the short film Victim No. 6, which premiered as part of the Born of Woman programme. I spoke with the film’s writer, director and producer Nancy Menagh, as well as producer and star Heather Brittain O’Scanlon, who plays Donna in the film.
It’s set in 1975 New York, where Donna goes out for a night on the town to a bar with a friend, despite the fact that there’s a serial killer at large in New York City. If you want to find my review of their film, you can click right here.
In our conversation, we talk a bit about their previous projects and what got them started, setting the film in the 70s, and getting the look of the film just right and talking about a bunch of those elements, and Nancy takes us down a rabbit hole about the research. We touch on a lot more in our conversation.
You can watch the convo directly above on YouTube, or you can listen to it below and download it here. As well, you can find Nancy and Heather’s film right here, and it’s recently been announced that Victim No. 6 will be playing next at the Woodstock Film Festival on October 2.
