Dickinson, an Apple TV+ original, is a funny and entertaining look at the life of Emily Dickinson (played by Hailee Steinfeld), as very much a period piece set in the 1850’s with all the sensibilities and humour of the modern day. Being a period piece, some of the most important aspects of this show come from behind the scenes especially in the visuals depicting the time, including production design, set design and notably the costume design, as well.
On this episode of The Filmcraziest Show I was joined by costume designer Jennifer Moeller to chat about the second season of Dickinson. Moeller was the main costume designer on the show’s second season after being the assistant costume designer on the first season. It was a fun conversation for me as it was my first conversation with a costume designer, and we talked about how Jennifer got into costume design, the colours of the show and her always starting with Emily, what it was like dressing Sue (played by Ella Hunt) as her character changed, the research for the characters, the suits, what departments she worked with and more in between.
You can listen to the conversation directly below or go here to download it, and you can also watch the conversation on YouTube down below, as well. Dickinson is now streaming on Apple TV+.
