Beast Beast is a drama, which premiered at Sundance earlier this year, about a trio of thee youngsters whose lives intersect in a Southern town – with the social butterfly Krista (Shirley Chen, pictured above), the new kid and town and parkour and skateboarding aficionado Nito (Jose Angeles, pictured above), as well as high school graduate Adam (Will Madden) who is trying to make it big with a YouTube channel educating about firearms.
I was able to chat with the team behind the film, including writer/director Danny Madden, as well as the three leads of the film in Shirley Chen, Jose Angeles and Will Madden (who is a frequent collaborator with director and brother, Danny).
In the conversation, we talked about theatre rituals, stunts in the film, acting coaches and massages, Jim Cummings, the sound design and score, dance sequences, as well as the original short film “Krista” and what that was like turning it into a feature-length film. There’s much more in between. You can listen to the podcast below or go here to download it.
Beast Beast is currently playing in theatres (list here) and will be available on demand on May 4.
