The Filmcraziest Show – BJ Verot, Echo Andersson, “The Return”

On this episode of The Filmcraziest Show, I was joined by director/co-writer BJ Verot and actress Echo Andersson (pictured in the featured image) to discuss their new film The Return, which just had its Canadian Premiere at the Blood in the Snow Film Festival.

The plot: When brilliant student Rodger (Richard Harmon) learns of the death of his father, he returns to his childhood home with his girlfriend, Beth (Sara Thompson), and his long-time best friend Jordan (Echo Andersson) to set affairs in order. Rodger then begins to investigate the details of the family tragedy; and soon discovers a malevolent force that has been haunting his family since his childhood.

On the episode, we discuss the design of the ghosts in the film; what it was like blending horror and some science fiction; the special effects and hacking; The Goonies; the chemistry between the cast; as well as some haunted house specific questions, as well as if they believe in ghosts. There’s much more, too.

A note about spoilers: The first spoiler warning comes at 9:02 (where the twist about the ghosts is spoiled), and the spoilers for this section end at 11:00. There’s another brief spoiler warning at 12:20-12:40 and again at 14:30 to 16:15. In all other sections, the spoilers are light!

As always, you can listen to the episode below or go here to download it.
